Heather Hur, PhD, HCLD

Laboratory Director of Embryology, Andrology and Endocrinology

Dr. Heather Hur is recognized by The American Board of Bioanalysis as a Board Certified High Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) with expertise in Embryology, an area of biology relating to embryos and their development, and Andrology, a branch of laboratory science concerned with male reproductive function.

With 27 years of laboratory experience to her credit, Dr. Hur is licensed in both New York and New Jersey as an Andrology and Endocrinology Laboratory Director.

She received her Ph.D. from Seoul National University, South Korea, where her research focused on Blastocyst Transfer and In Vitro Maturation (IVM).

Dr. Hur then worked for eleven years as an Embryology Laboratory Director at Maria Fertility Hospital, home of the largest IVF program in South Korea, followed by positions as a Laboratory Director at several prestigious clinics in the United States before ultimately joining the Fertility Institute of NJ & NY family.

She is proficient at performing the most complicated embryological procedures, such as Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Blastocyst Culture, Laser-Assisted Hatching, Trophectoderm Biopsy for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), and Vitrification.

Dr. Hur leads a team of highly trained laboratory professionals and is passionate about optimizing every detail of the laboratory in order to achieve the best pregnancy results possible. She is held in high regard by colleagues and patients alike for her laboratory skills and leadership, and deeply caring attitude.
